The Password test measures academic English across four modules — reading, writing, listening and speaking. It is aligned to the CEFR and academically designed and managed by CRELLA at the University of Bedfordshire. It has been accepted by hundreds of universities and colleges since 2015, and meets UK Home Office requirements for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

3 hours 5 minutes in total, run in two parts — reading and writing first, then listening and speaking.
Reading
Five sections, one reading task in each.
Writing
One essay of at least 200 words, from two titles.

How your result is reported
Each module is scored separately and you also receive an overall score, reported against the CEFR. Results are normally issued within 5–7 working days and the certificate is valid for two years. Every institution sets its own required score — check your course entry requirements before you book.
